The class sizes at Deco-Gecko are kept deliberately small to ensure personalised attention and kits are supplied for each student. The studio is a home-based and highly creative freelance studio offering classes in decoupage, mosaics, mixed media and wood craft painting.
They also offer teambuilding courses for companies, and these are always creative and challenging and inspire many to take up a new hobby. To hand make something is not only fulfilling, but therapeutic and a complete break from the office.
Tina Schilling teaches a wide range of crafts to small classes from the studio – mosaics, woodcraft painting etc and she is also constantly looking out for new crafts, products and processes to offer students the best. She is also willing to customise classes to suit your requirements.

Born and raised near the Kruger National Park, Alan Dent developed a tremendous affinity for the outdoors and the wonderful animals and birds of the bushveld. It was while visiting the United States that he came into contact with the traditional leatherwork of the cowboys of North America.

Back in South Africa his attention was drawn to the fine art carved leather pictorials of wildlife in their natural habitat where their details are carved and modelled into leather which is stained or painted. The beauty of a collectable fine art carved leather pictorial is thatyou can actually feel the wrinkles on a rhino’s face or the texture of the elephant’s skin for instance.
His pictorials are mostly inspired from he and his wife’s personal wildlife encounters.
Alan Dent produce a variety of collectable quality, fine art leather pictorials for the discerning admirer, providing a high degree of craftsmanship.
Alan Dent carves to the clients requirements. He is always introducing new pictorials, the pieces currently featured in his on-line Gallery are representatove of his current range, and the website is regularly updated.

The Porcupine ceramic studio was started in 1994 and is beautifully situated on a farm at the base of the Outeniqua Mountains, 18 kilometers outside of Plettenberg Bay. They produce a range of about 110 different raku fired ceramic pieces – decorative art pieces, lamp bases, candleholders and pots.
Each piece is handcrafted and decorated and raku fired, giving it individuality.
Their industry is also environmentally friendly, and all their clay is recycled.
There is a large gallery attached to the studio and visitors are welcome to tour the studio and purchase product directly.

While Tim van Vuuren worked in the financial services industry he worked part time as an artist, and in 2007 he started working fulltime as a painter and ceramicist.

Timothy van Vuuren did an art course, but artist friends Tony Strickland and Gert Swart appraised his works and provided helpful advice on drawing, colour and composition, technique and content, together with line, form and colour of a painting or a ceramic piece.
He also joined a pottery school in Pinetown where he learned the basic skills of ceramics. Apart from working from nature some compositions are conceived on paper, rather than from an actual landscape or still life.
